DROPS OF SPORTS - PORTUGAL

The seventh and the last meeting was in Portugal from 13th to 17th April in the name of Drops of Sports. As can be understood , sport was the emphasized item in this meeting.

The host school was in Bragança, a town in the north-east of Portugal . We arrived  there  in late hours after a very long journey .The students were very excited to meet their new friends and host families.

On the first day there was a welcoming ceremony for the guests .After that students had a volleyball tournament while the teachers were having a meeting and visiting the classrooms of the school. There was an exhibition for traditional games of each countries . We prepared a poster for 'Bezirganbaşı' game for our country.  The group also had the chance to see some historical attractions like, Castle ,Citadel and  Mask Museum in the town.

The next day  we had a whole day trip to Porto after 3 hours drive. The boat cruise on the Douro River was fascinating. The view of the city was great with its old building , bridges , rowboats . The surface of many old buildings was tile. You can see that the tile work is a typical architecture style for Portugal. As known Porto is the best vine producer ,we visited a vine cellar there. The World of Discoveries Museum helped us to remember and see the magnificent discoveries that Macellan ,Vasco da Gama did  to India ,South Africa ,China and many other places in the world. Later we had some time by the Atlantic Ocean ,which affected us much.

On the following day the teachers had a trip to a lovely village that is on the border between Spain and Portugal. Meanwhile students played paintball game , a great fun for them. In the afternoon the kids played Peddy Paper game  ,a game similar to orienteering ,  in the town as the teacher were having a meeting. In the evening we had a farewell dinner . It was so hard for everyone to say goodbye after a two year cooperation.

On the last day we spent some time in Lisbon ,the capital city. Santa Justa Elevator, The Commercial Square, the Belem Tower, The Jeronimos Monastry were some amazing places that we could visit there. Then we set off on a long journey home.  

The organization , activities ,trips and the people were so colourful and joyfull that we had lots of memories that made us smile.
