The first meeting, Drops of Tradition, started on 11th November and lasted for five days. Both teachers and students from partner schools participated in this event which concentrated on traditional food and traditions .
First the guests were hosted by the host school. The official opening ceremony started at 8 a.m. and included a special theatre performance and a concert from the school band.
After that the students took part in an interesting chemistry lesson during which they were involved in detecting protein, starch and sugar in the food.
Later they joined their Polish friends in their lessons. In the meantime Project coordinators and other teachers were able to see the school and meet the teaching staff.
Then everybody got together in the main hall and students presented traditional recipes from their countries. They also had a lot of fun while dancing and mingling with each other.
In the afternoon the students from the host school walked their guests around their home town showing them its landmarks and the local museum, which is famous for its beekeeping exhibition.
On Wednesday everybody headed for Kraków, a city of culture and tradition where they could admire different historic styles of architecture.
This trip also included a visit to the Wieliczka Salt Mine, a world class monument present on the UNESCO's World Cultural and Natural Heritage List.
On the last day of this meeting both students and teachers were engaged in bread baking activities in one of the ecological farms near Kluczbork. The activity consisted in making bread rolls starting from the preparation of the sourdough. They also participated in a lecture on honey production and beekeeping and in a candle making activity using beeswax.
During this meeting the students also had the possibility of experiencing the culture and traditions at their host families whereas the teachers worked on future tasks and discussed next meetings.
Thanks to our hosts! We had a great time together and our students came home with nice experiences and both emotionally and spiritually filled.
